What versions of Microsoft Copilot are available?

It’s important to emphasise that, whilst M365 Copilot is very much capturing the limelight, this is just one of a range of Copilots Microsoft is introducing across its extensive portfolio. Fundamentally these all align with one wider goal: to empower users with Natural Language Recognition, reducing or even removing mundane work whilst also mitigating the dependency on extensive skilling these products require to fully utilise their extensive capabilities.

Today these broadly fall into 6 categories (Microsoft have teased there’s more in the works), we’ll look at these a little closer below.

Microsoft Copilot for Web

Employees aim to enhance workplace creativity and productivity using AI tools, as indicated by Microsoft’s Work Trend Index, with 70% willing to delegate tasks to AI. Yet, non-enterprise AI tools pose a risk to sensitive business data, necessitating enhanced data security as businesses adopt AI. Bing Chat Enterprise provides AI-enhanced chat for work, fortified with robust commercial data protection. It safeguards user and business data, ensuring it stays within the organization, preserving the confidentiality of both incoming and outgoing information. Learn more about Bing Chat Enterprise.

Copilots for Productivity (M365 Copilot)

Copilot is integrated into Microsoft 365 in two ways. It works alongside the user, integrated into the Microsoft 365 applications you use daily (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams…) to increase productivity, access to data, and, in short, expand the user’s knowledge. Microsoft Copilot for Business (Dynamics Copilot)

Business applications such as CRM and ERP are essential for managing customer and operational data, but they often require tedious tasks like manual data entry, content generation, and note-taking. Dynamics Copilot leverages generative AI to automate many of these tasks. It also enables normal users to use natural language to describe what they need, with Copilot then generating and inserting working code or queries in the Dynamics 365 grid for them. Dynamics is a broad tool, with many dedicated applications built on top of it (Dynamics for Sales, Dynamics for Customer Service, Dynamics for Supply Chain Management etc.). Copilot is expected to integrate with all of the, providing AI-powered assistance across business functions. Learn more about Microsoft Copilot for Business.

Microsoft Copilot for Analytics (Fabric Copilot)

Microsoft have introduced Copilot for Fabric through Microsoft Power BI. Fabric is a holistic, user-centric analytics solution that consolidates an organisations data and analytics into a unified platform, merging the strengths of Microsoft Power BI, Azure Synapse, and Azure Data Factory into a single SaaS offering. This enables smooth collaboration among data professionals, including engineers, warehousing experts, scientists, analysts, and business users, promoting a cohesive data culture company-wide. Microsoft Copilot for Security (Security Copilot)

Microsoft Security Copilot is an AI-powered security analysis tool that enables analysts to respond to threats quickly, process signals at machine speed, and assess risk exposure in minutes. Learn more about Microsoft Copilot for Security.

Microsoft Copilot for Development (GitHub Copilot)

GitHub Copilot, driven by OpenAI’s Codex AI system, is an AI partner for programmers that integrates with Visual Studio Code. GitHub Copilot expedites coding tasks by comprehending and contextualising the code you’re currently engaged with, offering suggestions that range from entire lines to complete functions. Microsoft Copilot: Pricing

Before enabling Microsoft Copilot across your tools and apps, it’s essential to procure a license, contrary to earlier assumptions of it being a free service.

In July, Microsoft disclosed the official pricing, which stands at $30 per user per month, alongside your existing Microsoft subscription, like Business Standard, Premium, E3, or E5.
