Disaster Recovery Workload and Azure migration for a global insurance provider
The customer was award-winning global Insurance company for private business and individuals. They were unhappy with their current Datacentre Disaster Recovery (DR) solution and approached Ultima for our expertise in Microsoft Azure, MS365, and automation.
Key drivers:
The UK part of the company had a requirement to transform their current Azure architecture to best practice and to enable migrating their DR requirements into Azure for their core applications from an existing datacentre.
Key technologies:
The existing DR solution was on-premises orientated, with a new solution that would involve in migrating some workloads to run 24/7, while others would be Azure Site Recovery-enabled for replication from the primary datacentre.
Value delivered:
The partnership delivered several outcomes:
- A reduction in on-premises footprint
- Dedicated DR datacentre capex
- Switch to operational DR costs with the ability to perform test drills at will
The migrated as-is workloads that need to run 24/7 also required a much smaller cost footprint.
Win insight:
The reset and enablement of a best practice Azure landing zone and newly created DR capabilities meant that the Azure environment is now the main area of new and future developments. We took the customer through our CAF-aligned plan, ready and adoption; design through to implementation.
