Why Your Business Needs FinOps (Before Your Cloud Bill Spirals Out of Control)
10/04/2025Microsoft will be increasing some of its pricing on 1st July 2025. This consists of a 10% increase for on-premises servers, e.g., for SharePoint and Exchange server. In addition to this, and for those customers still using Core CAL and Enterprise CAL Suites, there will be 15% – 20% increase.
Organisations who are affected are advised to review on-premises cores/servers, assess requirements, and then accelerate any procurement before the 1st July deadline . Ultima is eager to help customers with this and have collaborated with many on this before.
Regarding reasoning, it would be easy to align the increase with the end of Microsoft FY in June, helping invigorate all revenue streams and incentives purchased this FY. Microsoft justified its reasoning as follows: ‘To support ongoing maintenance and updates for Microsoft’s on-premises server products, prices for all standalone on-premises server products will increase.’
Please note that these changes apply exclusively to the on-premises versions of these products. There is no impact to pricing for SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, or Microsoft Teams purchased separately or through a Microsoft 365 license.
