Extended Support End Date: SQL Server 2014
SQL 2014 is approaching its end of extended support on July 9, 2024. There are options to purchase via Azure Arc or via Volume license. If you can migrate to Azure, then costs can be removed potentially around these security updates.
Copilot update – extension of qualifying licenses.
In May, Microsoft confirmed that they were extending the qualifying products for Copilot for M365. So now, customers with Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Microsoft 365 F1/F3 and Office 365 F3/E1 may also purchase Copilot for M365.
Multi-tenant organisation capabilities within Microsoft 365
Microsoft have confirmed that multi-tenant organisation (MTO) capabilities within Microsoft 365 are now generally available. These capabilities aim to enhance an organisation’s collaboration and communication activities across multiple tenants using Teams and Viva Engage. From a licensing perspective only one Microsoft Entra ID Plan 1 licence is required per employee per multi-tenant organisation.
Dynamics 365 price increases
Microsoft announce that there will be price increases to the Dynamics products from 1st October, 2024 affecting both cloud versions and on-premises. The increases range from 10.53% for the CRM Enterprise licences to 16.67% for the ERP Enterprise licences, with an increase of $15 for all tiers for Microsoft Relationship Sales licences. Pricing for Dynamics 365 Business Central remains unchanged. The increases apply globally for all new customers, and for existing customers on their next renewal after 1st October, 2024. Upcoming retirement of Power BI Premium capacity
Microsoft announce that Power BI Premium capacity SKUs (P-SKUs) will be retired in place of Fabric capacity. New customers will not be able to purchase the P-SKUs after 1st July, 2024, existing customers can renew their existing subscriptions until 1st January, 2025 and (if required) purchase more capacity until the end of the subscription term. There are no changes to Power BI Pro or Power BI Premium Per User licensing. Find the announcement here.
Supply Chain Management Premium
Microsoft announce that Supply Chain Management Premium is available, which gives new demand planning capabilities for Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management powered by Copilot. It’s licensed via a User Subscription Licence costing $300 per user per month, with a minimum purchase of 10 licences. Find the announcement here, and pricing and product information here.
Automatic Reservation renewal
Microsoft announce that it’s now possible to turn on the Auto-renew option for a Reservation at the time of purchase. The setting is off by default, and you can (as before) enable or disable the Auto-renew option at any time up to the expiration of the existing Reservation. See the announcement article here.
