Enhancing Ofgem’s digital security
Ofgem, the independent energy regulator for Great Britain, is dedicated to delivering a greener, fairer energy system in the UK. With a team of 501 – 1000 employees, Ofgem plays a crucial role in overseeing the energy market and ensuring its sustainability and equity for all consumers.
Requirement
Ofgem required a solution to help streamline and secure management of its digital certificates.
Solution
- Deployment automated for ease of uptake and install.
- Efficient and competitive route to market via G-Cloud
- SCM implemented to prevent digital certificates expiring or being breached
- An all-in-one platform provided through the use of SCM, allowing management of certificates from one dashboard
Outcomes
- Downtime minimised: Certificates can now be managed from one place, reducing expired certificates and therefore service downtimes.
- Avoid breaches: Security vulnerabilities are reduced through ensuring certificates are renewed.
- Compliance Eased: Automated renewals with SCM reducing manual certificate management.
The Ultima Effect
Ofgem can now fully manage their digital certificates through Sectigo Certificate Manager (SCM).
SCM enables self-administration, discovery, automation, and instant provisioning of all digital certificates from Sectigo External CA, Sectigo private PKI, and Microsoft AWS or GCP private PKI.
With the rise in enterprise encryption and the upcoming reduction of SSL certificate validity to 90 days, there is an increasing need for certificate authority (CA) agility and machine identity protection.
