Introducing Vision AI by IA-Connect | Ultima Labs

This month marks a key milestone for our automation & AI solution, IA-Connect. After nine months in development, our Vision AI capability is now in public preview.

We developed Vision AI in response to a real customer need for agentic-style repeatable process automation across a range of legacy and modern applications, often remote in nature. Development started back in January of this year and is an evolution of our pre-existing, patented, remote automation capabilities.

Why we built Vision AI

To date, our remote automation capabilities have provided customers with the ability to automate applications over a VDI’s video channel without installing agents on the remote infrastructure. This ground-breaking capability is now used across 1000s of processes in healthcare, the automotive industry, logistics, finance, insurance, and other industries.

However, customers still struggle to realise the efficiency gains they need, often as a result of:

• Legacy or modern systems on Citrix, Parallels, AVD, or other VDI solutions, where no underlying technology can exist for automation due to security requirements
• Legacy applications that can't be automated, upgraded, or changed due to incorrect or otherwise unsuitable development

Both examples are especially common in the healthcare industry.

How does Vision AI work?

Using our own cognitive AI model, as well as Microsoft’s AI service, Vision AI by IA-Connect helps customers overcome these challenges. In practice, Vision AI is used to scan a remote session application as presented, constructing its layout in near real-time, and defining controls and functionality for automation to drive the application. This is steered via our inspector tool; the user directs how they want an application to be automated, and IA-Connect’s agentic automation service helps them to create a flow ready to be reviewed and used. For remote applications this can mean zero agents, zero executables, zero extras at all. When stricter requirements are in play, Vision AI provides a feature to use our own model and localised analysis only.

Considering the main challenges our customers have brought to us, here's how Vision AI by IA-Connect helps:

Automating in secure virtualised environments

Vision AI by IA-Connect enables automation within infrastructures where traditional agents or connectors can’t be installed by visually interpreting remote applications in real time, and mapping controls and workflows without requiring executables, agents, or local installs. This enables customers to protect their systems and maintain compliance while introducing automation capabilities.

Unlocking legacy application automation

For applications that lack the structure and stability required for automation, Vision AI can virtually reconstruct the user interface and identify individual elements that are automation ready. This allows customers to automate processes in otherwise closed systems, unlocking new efficiency gains from their existing products.
